You may have seen recent articles in the media about security issues affecting all systems and devices that use Intel, AMD or ARM processors.

We plan to apply a security update provided by Microsoft late next week to desktops, laptops, and servers managed by ISS that use Microsoft operating systems. This will enable us to thoroughly test the update beforehand. However, the date we apply the update is open to change should information come to light that suggests the security risk from this issue has increased.

We will provide further information about the issue (including exactly when we will apply the security update).

If you have a computer, device or server that isn’t managed by ISS, or are running browsers and applications, please check for and apply any system and software updates from the relevant company/community to stay as secure as possible.

<![CDATA[AppsAnywhere affected by Microsoft’s update for processor security issue]]>

The current CloudPaging player in AppsAnywhere remains affected by an update provided by Microsoft to address the security issues currently affecting systems and devices that use Intel, AMD or ARM processors.

The CloudPaging player will stop and display an error on any Windows desktop or laptop that has had the above Microsoft update applied. However applications may still launch successfully from the AppsAnywhere hub even though the error is displayed. Note we have not yet applied the update to Windows desktops and laptops that are managed by ISS.

While the supplier works on a fix for the CloudPaging player issue we recommend that the Microsoft update should remain applied on the affected computer until the fix is provided.

If you are unable to launch software from the AppsAnywhere hub and you urgently need to use an application, please check details about the application in the ISS software catalogue - some applications can be installed locally on your computer if required.

Note that the Microsoft update could potentially affect other applications that we have not yet been made aware of.
